Bromic
Bromic Heating is the Sydney-based maker of infrared outdoor heaters, launched in 2008 out of Bromic Group and selling in more than 30 countries. The line covers gas and electric radiant heaters that warm people and surfaces directly instead of trying to heat open air, in flush, wall, ceiling, and freestanding configurations.
- Bromic Group was founded in Australia in 1978; the heating division launched in Sydney in 2008 and opened US operations in Irvine, California in 2010
- Introduced what the company describes as the world's first wind-resistant infrared gas heater in 2010, and Tungsten gas models hold performance in wind up to 8 mph
- Tungsten Smart-Heat Gas runs 26,000 BTU (up to 160 sq ft) or 43,000 BTU (up to 215 sq ft) in natural gas or propane, with a patented direct ignition system that needs no pilot light and shuts off on flame failure
- Platinum Smart-Heat Electric comes in 2300W, 3400W, and 4500W covering 65, 108, and 143 sq ft, in 304 stainless with a tinted ceramic glass screen

About Bromic
Bromic Heating operates out of Sydney as the heating division of Bromic Group, an Australian company founded in 1978. The heating business launched in 2008 and moved into the US in 2010 with a headquarters in Irvine, California, followed by Europe, Canada, India, and Japan. It now sells in over 30 countries. The brand's reputation rests on two claims it made early and has built on since: the first wind-resistant infrared gas heater in 2010, and the first outdoor heating solution certified by Lloyd's Register for marine use in 2019.
What Bromic sells is infrared, and that distinction is the whole argument. A conventional mushroom heater warms the air, which a breeze then carries away. Infrared radiant energy travels through open air and warms people and surfaces directly, so it works in the exact conditions that defeat convection heat. Bromic engineers around that: Tungsten gas models use a honeycomb mesh screen and proprietary ignition to hold output in wind up to 8 mph, and a patented direct ignition system lights instantly with no pilot flame plus automatic shutoff if the flame fails. The electric side runs quartz elements behind sealed screens in 304 stainless, with a 316 marine-grade option rated IPX5 for salt air. Housings are sealed and IP-rated, and the pivot bracket on Tungsten rotates 25 degrees each way so you aim the heat where the chairs actually are.
The range sorts by how visible you want the heater to be. Platinum is the slim architectural option, available as electric in 2300W, 3400W, and 4500W (65, 108, and 143 sq ft of coverage, in 220-240V or 208V) and as gas at 23,600 or 39,800 BTU behind a black ceramic-glass screen that glows red. It mounts to a wall, a ceiling, or flush into a soffit, and ships with an 8 inch stainless pole. Tungsten is the high-output workhorse in matte black stainless, 300 series at 26,000 BTU and 500 series at 43,000 BTU, wall or ceiling mounted at about 8 feet, with a freestanding gas version. Cobalt is the wide industrial-format electric at 4000W and 6000W in 44 and 56 inch bodies. Eclipse does double duty, combining radiant heat with a dimmable warm-white LED at three brightness presets, offered in six wall and ceiling configurations plus a freestanding model with a built-in dimmer and wireless remote. All of them pair with Affinity dimmer or on/off controllers.
Bromic fits the covered patio, restaurant terrace, pergola, or poolside space where a propane mushroom heater would look wrong and blow out anyway, and the marine line covers coastal and vessel installs that eat ordinary stainless. Warranty varies by line: 3 years on Platinum Electric and both Eclipse models, 5 years on Platinum Electric Marine in land-based use, 2 years on gas heaters excluding hoses and igniters, and 7 years on heating elements for Tungsten Electric and Cobalt. Coverage goes to the original owner and is claimed through the selling dealer, so buying from an authorized retailer matters. Backyard Commerce is authorized, and every unit ships with full factory coverage.
