American Outdoor Grill is a division of RH Peterson Co., the California company Robert H. Peterson started in 1949 and that still builds its products at its plant in City of Industry. Peterson's grill heritage runs even deeper through Fire Magic, a line whose roots trace back to 1937, and AOG shares that factory, that engineering team, and that manufacturing standard. The brand's role in the RH Peterson family is specific: deliver the construction and cooking hardware of an American-made premium grill without the cost of the top-tier line.

The construction is the argument. AOG grills are built from commercial-grade 304 stainless steel, with heavy-duty stainless tubular burners and patented Diamond Sear cooking grids, the same grid design used on Fire Magic. The Diamond Sear profile is closer to a flat bar than a round rod, so more steel touches the meat and the sear marks come out defined instead of faint. Stainless vaporizer panels sit between the burners and the grids to catch drippings, even out the heat, and keep flare-ups under control. In 2026 the entire lineup was redesigned with a sharper hood profile, updated vaporizer panels, and new control panel finishes.

The range splits into two series, each offered in 24-inch, 30-inch, and 36-inch sizes and in built-in or freestanding cart form, with natural gas or propane specified at the time of order. The T-Series is the analog option: Flame Thrower piezo ignition, no batteries, no electrical run to the island, which makes it the practical pick for outdoor kitchens without power at the grill location. The L-Series keeps the same cooking core and adds 110V features, including interior halogen lights, illuminated knobs, and an exterior multi-color LED light bar that no comparable grill offers. All models can be specified with a standard stainless, Accent Black, or Accent White control panel, and portable models ship fully assembled on heavy 2.5-inch wheels.

AOG suits the buyer building a permanent outdoor kitchen or replacing a big-box grill for the last time, who wants domestic manufacturing and stainless that holds up outdoors without paying for cast burners and hood technology they will not use. RH Peterson backs it with a lifetime warranty on the stainless housing and burners, 15 years on the Diamond Sear grids, 10 years on valves, controls, manifolds, and vent hood housings, and 3 years on vaporizer panels, backburners, and rotisserie kits. Parts stay available for older models, which is a large part of why these grills stay in service for decades.
